About “Bildung trifft Entwicklung“ (BtE)

The “Bildung trifft Entwicklung“ program (English: Education meets development), or BtE in short, is committed throughout Germany to a form of learning that makes global interrelationships tangible in the lives of learners.

The BtE offers are aimed at people of all ages. They can take place within school lessons, but also outside of school. The aim is to contribute to a change in awareness in Germany towards a responsible and sustainable shaping of globalization. The topics of the educational offers are based on the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The program is organized on a decentralized basis and is implemented throughout Germany and in individual cases also in other EU countries by a total of eight non-governmental organizations. Those interested in adult education, youth work and school can find their contact persons for advice and support in the regional education office in their respective federal state. The overall program is coordinated by Engagement Global in Bonn.

Would you like to invite speakers/Instructors?

The services of BtE are aimed at both school and non-school (extracurricular) institutions that wish to address topics such as fair trade, global inequalities, climate change, consumption and sustainability, racism, colonialism or everyday life in other countries.

If you are in Germany, you can invite experienced and motivated BtE instructors to support you in your educational event. By arrangement, it is also possible in individual cases to plan an event in an EU country outside of Germany.

Please contact the Federal Coordination Office of BtE (see Contact) for advice on your projects, the placement of instructors or specific inquiries about the program.

Would you like to become an instructor for global learning yourself?

If you have lived and worked in a country in Africa, Asia or Latin America for at least 12 months at a time and would like to share this experience with others, then you can become an education instructor yourself. Workshops in languages other than German are possible (for example in the context of foreign language teaching in schools). You should have at least German level B2 to be able to train as a BtE instructor. BtE is a Germany-wide program, but you can also become active in another EU country outside of Germany.
